Sustainability in conjunction with environmentally friendly production has a long tradition at Hahnemühle. Recently, the company has been certified according to the ISO 14001 guideline for environmental management for all sustainability measures and its environmentally sensitive actions.
Since 2008, Hahnemühle has actively contributed to environmental conservation and social initiatives through their "Green Rooster" program. They have been involved in regional, national, and international projects focused on reforestation, animal welfare, and environmental education. By allocating 5% of the profits from their eco-friendly Natural Line artists' papers, the company continues to provide support to a diverse range of environmental and social causes each year.
Since 2008, Hahnemühle has been producing high-quality artists' papers from rapidly renewable plant fibers such as bamboo and hemp. All these fibers grow quickly, do not require pesticides and need little water during cultivation.
Hahnemühle has been producing exclusively vegan artist papers since 1965 and has since then dispensed with animal glues or other animal components in its papers.
Hahnemühle covers its entire electricity requirements for paper production exclusively with wind, water and solar energy.
